Sarah Jane Morris' first album in several years continues in the same vein as her last widely available release, Blue Valentine, offering torch songs driven by her deep, smoky voice. Morris has shown an amazing range in her albums, straddling Pop, Jazz and R&B styles -- Fallen Angel orbits more tightly around a jazz center than some of her previous releases, perhaps due to the influence of guest artists Marc Ribot, Kate St. John and David Coulter.
