She was known as the "Queen of Coloratura" for her technical precision, the uniqueness of her tone and the speed of her vocalisations. She showed extraordinary abilities - she was one of the few singers of her time to reach the counter-grade in Mozart's "Popoli de Tessaglia"! An actress of immense talent, she has performed on the world's greatest opera stages, including the Berlin Staatsoper, where she sang the role of the Queen of the Night more than 70 times. She has made wonderful recordings conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Bernard Haitink. The singer whose voice reached stratospheric heights has now joined the stars...
