Trio Carducci

Italy's Trio Carducci are a rising young group on the chamber music scene. They were signed to the Dutch Brilliant Classics label and released their debut album in 2019. Trio Carducci were formed in Milan in 2016 by violinist Germana Porcu, cellist Matilda Colliard, and pianist Sara Costa; Lorenzo Tranquillini replaced Porcu in the fall of 2018. All the players were young and were recent graduates of Italian music programs; they had begun solo careers as well and were continuing to study, both individually and as a group. Porcu graduated from the Istituto Musicale G. Donizetti in 2010, has won several major prizes, and performed music by Giya Kancheli under the supervision of the composer. Her replacement, Tranquillini, received a bachelor's degree in music performance from the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Switzerland in 2017, has gone on for further study at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg, Germany, and has a growing solo career. Cellist Colliard studied cello -- and piano -- repertory at the International Piano Academy of Imola and the Academy of Music in Fusignano. She has studied Baroque cello as well as the modern instrument, and she has served on the faculty at the Ricordi Music School in Milan. Pianist Sara Costa has performed across Europe and toured Japan. The trio as a group have studied with Russian pianist Konstantin Bogino (of the Tchaikovsky Trio) and with cellist Frieder Berthold. Trio Carducci took second prize at the Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition, and they made their debut at the Royal Albert Hall's Elgar Room in London in April 2017, following that up with a concert at London's St Martin in the Fields the next year. Their repertory includes standard trios, Russian music, and contemporary and little-known works. Trio Carducci put out a video recording of Rachmaninov's Trio élégiaque in 2016, and embarked on a world tour -- including a number of performances in major Chinese cities -- in 2018. The following year, the group released their debut album, which featured trios by Russian composer Anton Arensky. Future plans included recording an arrangement for piano trio of Tchaikovsky's The Seasons.
