Pentti Hietanen
Pentti Hietanen is a Finnish tenor vocalist who rose to Top Ten success around the turn of the century with a series of stylistically varied albums. Born on October 7, 1958, in Tampere, Finland, he made his album debut in 1998 with Katseesi Kertoo Sen on EMI. After the modest success of the follow-up album, Lauluni (1999), Hietanen reached the Top Five of the Finnish albums chart with his third album, Kyynelten Kiertorata (2001). Subsequent albums include Huominen (2003), 38 Kauneinta Laulua (2004), On the Rocks (2005), and Con Amore (2007). Among these albums, On the Rocks was especially popular. Comprised of classic rock cover songs, it was a Top Ten hit. In 2008, Hietanen commemorated his ten-year anniversary as a recording artist with the best-of collection Minun Tieni 1998-2008, his third Top Ten hit album in a row.
