Aastha Gill

The Indian pop singer Aastha Gill was born in Punjab on June 24, 1987. Although she studied journalism in college, she found a career in Bollywood instead, making her debut as a playback singer with 2014's Fugly. The film featured her performance of "Dhup Chik," which she recorded with rappers Badshah and Raftaar. Later that year, she teamed up with Badshah once again for "Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai," which appeared in the Bollywood comedy Khoobsurat. The two musicians continued collaborating for years, scoring a hit with 2015's "DJ Waley Babu" and releasing a string of music singles — "Heartless," "Buzz," "Karee Ja," and "Nain" — in 2018 alone. That same year, Aastha Gill also recorded music for the Bollywood films Blackmail ("Happy Happy"), Stree ("Kamariya"), and Namaste England (the Top 10 hit "Proper Patola"). While competing in the eleventh season of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi in 2021, Aastha Gill maintained her schedule of new releases as a solo artist, with "Paani Paani" (featuring yet another cameo by Badshah) and the multi-artist single "Jaanam Samjha Karo 2.0" (featuring Priyank Kapoor, actor Punit Pathak, and vocalist Parampara Thakur) both appearing that same year.
