De creditslijst van het eerste album van Tired Pony leest als een wie-is-wie van indierock royalty. Met in de basis line-up: Gary Lightbody (Snow Patrol), R.E.M. gitarist Peter Buck, producer/muzikant Jacknife Lee, en Richard Colburn (Belle & Sebastian). De hippe gastenlijst bestaat uit namen als Zooey Deschanel en M. Ward. Maar, ondanks de lijst van grote namen, is The Place We Ran From zeer sterk afhankelijk van Lightbody, die het grootste deel van de songwriting voor zijn rekening neemt en alle zangpartijen. Op nummers als “Point Me At Lost Islands,” waar weersomstandigheden metaforen zijn en gelijke ruimte delen met akoestische gitaren en vioolsolo’s, komt de groep echt samen en vindt daarin een oprechte, collaboratieve pas.
