Hatebreeds zesde langspeler, het 12 nummers tellende Divinity of Purpose, heeft meer vlees op het bot en is meer hardcore georiënteerd dan hun vorige album, er wordt vast gehouden aan de bands voorkeur voor het maken van door punk beïnvloedde, motivationele hompen fitnessmetal (het audio equivalent van losse gewichten). Muzikaal slaat het een brug tussen latere Suicidal Tendencies (Institutionalized tijdperk), Pantera en Converge. Frontman Jamey Jasta zijn intense vocalen blijven onveranderd, muzikaal gezien gebruiken ze ook de oude blauwdrukken, maar er zit een indrukwekkend gevoel van arbeid in die een vast dieet van meer traditionele metal suggereert. Oude fans zullen hun volharding hier ingelost zien met nieuwe Hatebreed klassiekers als “Honor Never Dies,” “Bitter Truth,” “Own Your World,” en de verschroeiende titeltrack, die de huidige lichting van onnodig populaire hardcore bands het schaamrood op de wangen zal geven.
