The Baseballs, een trio uit Berlijn dat Engelstalige, eigentijdse popnummers in een fifties-jasje steekt, bestormde een deel van Europa in 2009 met het debuutalbum Strike!. The Baseballs zijn ontegenzeglijk een vernieuwende act, maar helaas gaat de nieuwigheid er gauw af naarmate het album vordert. Hoe dan ook, het zijn getalenteerde jongens. Hun Engels is bijzonder goed voor een stel Europeanen, want je hoort helemaal geen Duits accent. Ze hebben ook een aantal inventieve trucs met hun melodielijnen uitgehaald en hun rock-'n-roll zit vol spanning. Hoewel het de vraag is of de Baseballs een carrière kunnen opbouwen met hun foefje, is Strike! vooral een erg lollig album.
