On this self-titled EP, Plushgun's Daniel Ingala starts with simple songs crafted on acoustic guitar and then opens them up with beats and synths. He's not shy about it--these tunes have gone from frail, wistful coffee shop ballads to four-on-the-floor dance jams. Keeping them humble is Ingala's endearing awkwardness and sentimental lyrics like "I love you and I know that you love me too" ("14 Candles") and "I walk the line like Johnny Cash/ I caught the bus in seconds flat," from "Just Impolite." "How We Roll" is Ingala's tribute to the trials and triumphs of high school outcasts.
