Another single to keep us humming those irresistible GBV tunes until the ninth LP appears in early 1996. "Motor Away" is re-recorded from Alien Lanes, bigger, thicker, harder, raunchier, and better produced (at Dayton's fully equipped Refraze studio, as opposed to the lo-fi basement four-track approach). The LP version seemed to groove more, but this is reinterpreted, with lead guitarist Mitch Mitchell sitting out the first verse and then hitting a series of sustained power chords thereafter. Good. The more cheaply recorded non-LP B-side, "Color of My Blade," which is co-arranged with Breeders and Amps leader Kim Deal, is one of their full-blown good-uns, a low-driving, tuneful humdinger with noisy guitars.
