Magnus Lindberg is an orchestral composer to the core. The energy of a critical mass – its physical discharge and its resulting kinetic pathways – inspire the Finn to monumental large-scale works that have secured him a position as one of the most sought-after contemporary composers. He began with the accordion, that he started to learn at the age of six and for which he sketched out his first compositions. Even though the piano later became his main instrument, his close connection to the accordion remains to this day. Lindberg’s complex, multi-layered way of thinking responds well to the creative potential of a polyphonic, keyed instrument that is brought to vibration by means of adjustable airstream, and that is thus able to produce both a dense and homogenous sound. © Neos Music
