Nick Currie, the prolific and caustically satirical mastermind behind Momus, has released over 20 albums under the Momus name since the project’s inception in the mid-‘80s. JOEMUS, released on the Analog Baroque imprint in 2008, matches Currie's penchant for transgressive lyrics and vaudeville-derived song structures with the electro leanings of Joe Howe, a Glaswegian producer known for his work with Gay Against You. The result is a stylistic mish-mash that finds Currie’s tongue-in-cheek pop coexisting uncomfortably--but compellingly--with Howe’s often dissonant production flourishes.
