While MSTRKRFT’s full-length debut, THE LOOKS, featured hard-driving indie-electro with a confrontational edge, the 2008 single BOUNCE is a full-fledged club track that exchanges THE LOOKS’ willful eccentricities for a more earnest embrace of machine-tooled disco. The song hinges on a maniacally distorted synth-riff driven home by repeated exhortations from veteran rapper N.O.R.E., who deploys the same commanding bellow that made his 1999 single “Superthug” an unqualified success.
