Natalia
Belgian superstar singer Natalia Druyts, known simply as Natalia in her homeland, rose to fame on a Pop Idol-style television show in 2003 and went on to become a chart-topping recording sensation afterward with smash hits such as "I've Only Begun to Fight." Born on December 3, 1980, in Westerlo, Belgium, Druyts appeared as a contestant on Idool 2003, the first season of the Belgian version of Pop Idol, and proceeded to finish as the runner-up in a closely contested competition with Peter Evrard. Her full-length album debut, This Time (2003), proved tremendously popular, itself becoming a Top Five hit on the Belgian albums chart and spawning four hit singles: "Without You" (a number two hit on the singles chart), "I've Only Begun to Fight" (number one), "Higher Than the Sun" (number two), and "I Want You Back" (number three). Her follow-up album, Back for More (2004), proved even more popular, as it topped the albums chart, sold well over 100,000 copies in Belgium, and spawned four hit singles: "Risin'" (number two), "Fragile, Not Broken" (number 11), "Shelter" (number 28), and "Ridin' By/You Are" (number 12). She subsequently collaborated with the Pointer Sisters for a cover of the 1985 Eurythmics/Aretha Franklin hit "Sisters Are Doin' It for Themselves" that went all the way to number two on the singles chart; a ten-date run of concerts in Antwerp featuring Druyts along with the Pointer Sisters followed in January 2006. In 2007 Druyts released her third album, Everything & More, another chart-topping success; the album featured the major hits "Gone to Stay" (number nine) and "Glamorous/Where She Belongs" (number two).
