Coming half a year after Beach Fossils' debut album, this seven-song EP sounds like a placeholder made up of songs almost good enough to have been on the record but didn't quite make the cut. That doesn't mean they aren't good or the EP isn't worth owning, far from it. As one of the best reverb-pop bands around, even Beach Fossils' C-sides would be good for a listen or two. This collection is a solid batch of homemade melancholy pop, built around Dustin Payseur's mopey vocals, jangling guitars, and athletic basslines, with the occasional surprise like the synth pop gem "Out in the Way." It's sure to sound good to anyone who liked Beach Fossils and wanted more songs in that vein.
