Talk about striking when the iron is hot. Vibras de Noche is the sophomore long-player by teenage Mexican Regional trio Eslabon Armado. It follows their chart-topping Tu Veneno Mortal, released only three months earlier. The band -- Pedro Tovar (17), guitarist and harmony vocalist Gabriel Hidalgo (18), and bassist Brian Tovar (16) on electric and acoustic basses -- continue their thorough re-envisioning of Mexican Regional sierreña music with an utterly unique use of breezy rhythms, seamless vocal harmonies that meld Mexican romantica and corridos traditions, and with accessible yet complex melodies. The effect is one that marries the sweetness and emotional resonance of norteño with laid-back, acoustic, jazzy, yacht rock as evidenced by lead single "Dame Tu Calor." The album debuted on the Top Latin Albums chart at number one.
