This album starts off on the wrong foot with the clichéd lover-dies-in-car-wreck "Fui Culpable" ("I Was Guilty"), which seems even more exploitative since vocalist Juan Tavares suffered a car accident in Monterrey in spring 1997 and was briefly detained in March 1998 for allegedly owing accident-related damages to Teléfonos de México. Worse, all the character in the song seems to care about is himself. (In real life, Tavares' wife is alive and well.) The ballads, even first single "Murió" ("It Died"), lack hooks, and the cumbias, while pleasant, are missing the energy and sense of fun that made them great in previous albums. The sole exception is "La Viuda Magdalena" ("The Widow Magdalena"), a humorous cumbia showing that Liberación can still produce sparks when motivated.
