On sale -30%Following the excellent Eternal Love released in 2018 (CD2), Roberto Ottaviano broadens the instrumental formation under the title Extented Love (CD1) as he moves from quintet to octet with the same team with the exception of Alexander Hawkins on piano instead of Giorgio Pacorig. The result of this double quartet is astonishing. The seven compositions on CD1 are by Roberto Ottaviano — as opposed to four on CD2 whose other titles are written by each of the other members (Giovanni Maier for Monkonious, Giorgi Pacorig for Villaraspa, Zeno De Rossi for To the Masters, Marco Colonna for Violeta). Ottaviano refers us implicitly to a vast historical heritage (from Coltrane to Ornette, from Roscoe Mitchell to European improvisation, especially British with Keith Tippett to whom he was very attached). A magnificent disc in which the very present individuality of each one shapes the perfect unity of the ensemble. Absolute master of the soprano sax, which he plays with a unique expressive power, Roberto Ottaviano reaffirms here his high level of excellence of which the cultural authorities of Puglia where he comes from.
