The Violents
DIY punk-pop trio the Violents formed in the college town of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois in 2001, inspired by the likes of Bratmobile, Team Dresch, Bikini Kill and of course Sleater-Kinney. Guitarist Aimee Rickman, bassist Anni Poppen and drummer Sally Mundy (Rickman and Poppen both sing and write lyrics) signed to Mud Records, the punk-oriented imprint of local indie powerhouse Parasol Records, and released their debut album, Rebecca's Morning Voice, in September of 2002.
