Okamoto's

The Japanese rock band Okamoto's was formed by bassist Tasao Yoshida, drummer Reiji Miyake, guitarist Kōki Hayashi, and vocalist Shō Īmura in 2006. Inspired by the avant-garde painter Tarō Okamoto, all four bandmates decided to adopt "Okamoto" as a surname, as well as the band's name itself. Yoshida left the lineup in 2009 and was replaced by Ikumi Hamada, who followed the group's tradition by adopting the revised name "Hama Okamoto." That same year, the debut album Here Are Okamoto's was released. 10's followed in May 2010 and reached Number 63 on the Oricon Albums Chart, becoming the band's first commercially-successful release. Top 40 success arrived in the form of the band's self-titled album Okamoto's, which peaked at Number 30 in 2013. Two additional records, Let It V and VXV, reached the Top 30 the following year. 2015's Opera was another Top 30 success, as was its lead single, "Headhunt." Reaching Number 26, "Headhunt" became the band's signature song, as well as their only single to enjoy the same Top 30 success as the group's albums. A two-sided single, "Dance With Me"/"Dance With You," reached Number 36 on the singles charts later that year, and the group maintained its success on the Oricon Albums Chart with releases like 2017's No More Music (which charted at Number 21), 2019's. Boy (which charted at Number 13), and 2023's Flowers (which charted at Number 35).
