Ikke Hüftgold

The German singer and music producer Matthias Distel, better known by his stage name Ikke Hüftgold, was born on September 17, 1976 in Limburg an der Lahn. Between 1993 and 2006, he fronted various rock bands. From 2007, Matthias Distel mainly writes and produces children's radio plays. After losing a bet, the artist turned his attention to party hits. His first single, "Saufen ist Scheiße, doch wir machen's trotzdem" (Drinking is shit, but we'll do it anyway), was his first hit on Mallorca. From 2009, Ikke Hüftgold performed regularly at the Bierkönig on the German party island. His breakthrough came in 2014 with the Ballermann hit "Dicke Titten, Kartoffelsalat ". In the same year, he entered the German charts for the first time together with Willi Herren and the song "So gehn die Gauchos (So gehn die Deutschen)". In addition to his solo project, Matthias Distel also works as a songwriter and producer for pop singers such as Willi Herren and Lorenz Büffel. For the latter, he produces the title "Johnny Däpp". This achieved platinum status. Icke Hüftgold's debut album Ballerpunk is released in 2016. In the following years, he releases further party hits such as "Urensohn" (2017), "Reiss den Hahn auf (Kein Problem)" (2019) and "Tief im Ozean" (2020). His second album Dicke Hits und Kartoffelsalat aus dem Märchenland is released in 2020. In February 2021, Matthias Distel announces that he will no longer be performing as Ikke Hüftgold until further notice in order to concentrate on a career as a rock musician. On November 26, 2021, Distel releases the song "Unten kommt die Gurke rein" together with Felix Lobrecht and Tommi Schmitt as the fictional Ballermann trio Die Sacknähte and reaches number 48 in the German charts. The song is based on audio tracks from the podcast Gemischtes Hack by Felix Lobrecht and Tommi Schmitt. All proceeds from the sale go to sea rescue in the Mediterranean. In 2023, Ikke Hüftgold takes part in the German preliminary round of the Eurovision Song Contest with the track "Lied mit gutem Text". He narrowly misses out on victory with 2nd place. In the course of the year, Ikke Hüftgold declares his retirement as a party pop singer. His album Number One, released at the end of the year, is his last. This is the artist's first number one success in Germany.
