Gratiot Lake Road
Gratiot Lake Road are an indie folk group based around the music of husband-and-wife duo Ben and Emaleigh Jensen. Formed in 2009 in Northern Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula, they began performing throughout the state, releasing their debut EP, Seasons, in 2010. Primarily featuring Emaleigh on lead vocals and banjo, with Ben on acoustic guitar and percussion, they added a rhythm section and other additional instrumentation for their first full-length album, 2012's Stamp Sand Shores. The expanded lineup toured in support of the release and began working on their follow-up. The following year, the Jensens relocated to Hampton, Virginia, where they completed their second album, working again as a duo. Their sophomore LP, Read This If I Don't Make It Home, was released in 2014. Their music evokes richly delivered themes of travel, nature, and introspection.
