Antonio Infantino
Led by architect, painter, beat poet, theater director, anthropologist, guitarist, singer, and songwriter Antonio Infantino, I Tarantolati of Tricarico has used the traditional tarantella rhythms of Italy as a springboard for their original tunes. Describing the group, Italian magazine the Republic wrote that the six-piece band represented "a distance of universal correspondences between sounds, colors, and various cultures where trance and wild dances of property, rhythms, and chasing cross ages and nations." The group was praised by www.concertopoli.org for successfully "creating true states of trance ecstatica...sound-color-movement invades the physical space." Formed in 1966, Infantino and I Tarantolati of Tricarico continue to perform weekly at the Fog Club in Matera.
