Ambre
Ambré is an R&B solo artist whose songwriting has also appeared on Grammy-winning albums by groups like H.E.R. She was born as "Ambré Perkins" in New Orleans, Louisiana, a city whose multi-cultural music community would soon influence her own art. Placed into the foster care system at a young age, she bounced between various homes as a child and joined a local church choir as a teenager. Music became a stabilizing force for Ambré, who began collaborating with producer Erick Bardales at 17 years old. The two worked together on her first mixtape, Wanderlust, which was released in April 2015 and supported by a tour alongside fellow R&B vocalist Kehlani. Another mixtape, 2090, followed in April 2016, and Ambré continued to collaborate with other artists during the following year. One of those collaborations resulted in the songs "Changes" and "U," both of which appeared on H.E.R.'s self-titled debut album in October 2006. The platinum-selling H.E.R. peaked at Number 14 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and won a Grammy Award for "Best R&B Album" in 2019. That same year, Ambré released the single "fubu" and the debut EP Pulp while also appearing on Pell's song "Skyfall." Three years later, she earned the first hit of her solo career with "I'm Baby," which debuted at Number 27 on the Adult R&B Songs chart.
