Le producteur californien Skrillex fait son retour au format album quasiment dix ans après Recess, son long format de 2014 qui synthétisait les bases du brostep, la variante mainstream américaine du dubstep londonien, entre infrabasses, drums glitchées, montées interminables et drops brutaux. Vilipendé par les puristes du style né à Croydon, Skrillex met tout le monde d’accord avec Quest for Fire, qui rend hommage à toute la culture rave anglaise dès l'ouverture Leave Me Like This, un titre de UK bass qui devrait secouer les dancefloors ces prochains mois.
Le suivant, RATATA, est aussi promis à la postérité en superposant la voix de Missy Elliott avec le sample du fameux Vous êtes des animaux de Mr. Oizo. Et ça ne s’arrête pas là : sur l’imparable Tears, Skrillex s’associe avec Joker, un autre gardien du temple dubstep, et derrière, c’est le tremblement de terre Rumble avec la nouvelle star de l’électronique anglaise Fred Again… et le MC le plus talentueux de la scène dubstep/grime Flowdan, qui travaille habituellement avec The Bug, à l’opposé du spectre mainstream/underground. Et le niveau ne faiblit pas pendant encore dix autres titres… Et même plus si l’on ajoute son autre album paru quasi simultanément, le plus pop Don’t Get Too Close.
