Dix ans après Être une femme 2010, c'est avec un vingt-sixième effort studio annoncé comme son dernier, Le Choix du fou, que revient le chanteur français Michel Sardou en 2017. Précédé de peu par la parution du single "Le Figurant", l'album propose donc une ultime collection de dix compositions majoritairement cosignées Pierre Billon et Jean Mora et servant d'écrin à des textes issus des plumes de Claude Lemesle, Gérard Duguet-Grasser ou encore le chanteur lui-même ("Et alors!", "Pour moi elle a toujours 20 ans"), et fait son entrée dans les classements hexagonaux en seconde position à sa sortie au mois d'octobre.
