In the same change that saw the band change its name from Invasionen to INVSN, the Swedish punk outfit has also shaken things up stylistically, not only with the switch back to English lyrics, but by adopting a darker, moodier sound. Evoking post-punk greats like Joy Division and Echo & the Bunnymen, INVSN's self-titled reintroduction feels distinct enough to justify their stark new nomenclature. And even though there's nothing revolutionary happening here, the post-punk revivalists' spot-on re-creation of the murky sound of the '70s is an impressive feat in and of itself, and should satisfy anyone looking for something with that perfect blend of brooding and danceability.
