About Playlist

It's astonishing how many great musicians a country as small as Iceland can produce. In the field of classical music, Víkingur Ólafsson, whom the New York Times called "Iceland's Glenn Gould", is undoubtedly one of the Nordic island's brightest exports today. In addition to his recordings of works by Bach, Debussy and Rameau, Ólafsson mainly devotes himself to new music and has attracted international attention with premieres of six piano concertos by Icelandic composers as well as with his interpretation of works by Philipp Glass (his debut on Deutsche Grammophon in 2016). In this playlist you will find a compilation of Víkingur Ólafssons' works so far, a young artist from whom we will no doubt hear a lot more in the coming year(s).
