About Playlist
Incredible melodist, virtuoso musician, acrobatic singer, charismatic soulman and powerful funkster, Stevie Wonder could to it all from the beginning! From the age of 10 to be precise, when the young Stevland Hardaway Morris, born May 13, 1950, was introduced by Ronnie White of Smokey Robinson's Miracles to Motown boss, Berry Gordy. With his first hit "Fingertips Pt.2" three years later it was clear that the blind child was clearly a star, unfortunately trapped by a binding contract by the calculating Gordy. Stevie was the Motown boss' fairground phenomenon, lining up gold records thanks to a clever mix of soul, R&B and pop.
His four masterpieces from the 1972-1974 gave birth to original funk gems like "Superstition," "Boogie On Reggae Woman," and "Higher Ground" that would influence musicians all over the world, and beyond the groove sphere. Stevie Wonder's music is always very attached to the melodic and harmonic structures of pop music; it ends up as a totally unique type of soul that sounds like no other.
