He was a primary songwriter in soul band The Spencer Davis Group, the psychedelic outfit Traffic, blues rockers Blind Faith and—the primary focus here—his own synth and soft rock solo career. Through each project his vocals remain a constant, offering respectable advice amidst lovelorn storytelling. Whether he's taking his turn at guitar, piano or synth, each is wielded with an immaculate pop edge and a sense of theatrics.
