Incredibly versatile and precise, Steve Gadd has been one of the most in-demand and recorded drummers in the history of modern music for the last 50 years. Thanks also to his great technique and musicality, during his long career he has always distinguished himself in finding the most suitable drum parts for any song or arrangement with great speed (just think that "Aja," from the Steely Dan album of the same name, for example, was recorded in just two takes...). Together with illustrious colleagues such as Buddy Rich, Bernard "Pretty" Purdie and Tony Williams, Gadd has evolved the drums, making this instrument a real leader within any formation or recording. Definitely one of the most influential musicians from the early 1970s onwards, Steve Gadd managed to create a totally new language and sound for drumming, recognizable at first listen and imitated by several generations of drummers. With his great technique, precision and elegance he has contributed to making some pop, jazz, soul, funk and rock recordings true masterpieces. In addition to the aforementioned "Aja" by Steely Dan, just listen to "50 Ways To Leave Your Lover" by Paul Simon, "Spain" by Al Jarreau or Chuck E's "In Love by Rickie Lee Jones" (to name just a few) and understand the importance and creativity of this great musician. Al Jarreau, Frank Sinatra, Quincy Jones, James Taylor, Peter Gabriel, Chick Corea, Paul Simon, Davis Sanborn, Steps, Eric Clapton, Pino Daniele, along with a large number of other musicians, owe so much to Gadd's precise and elegant drumming. Adored, studied, copied...every time an album comes out with him on drums or he participates in an artist's tour, anyone who loves music runs to hear him. This playlist aims to retrace part of his 50-year career and highlight the variety of styles with which Steve Gadd manages to express all his great musicality, elegance and precision.
