It all began in 1964 at Lincoln High School in Jersey City, NJ for Kool & The Gang when brothers Robert and Ronald Bell persuaded their classmates to join their band Jazziacs. They could not imagine that one day they would sell 80 million albums...
After their beginnings in jazz, the band became the reference of the disco era; their songs are still sampled by musicians today. Kool & The Gang's soulful funk reached its peak with the albums Ladies' Night (1979), Celebrate! (1980), and Emergency (1984). After lead singer James "J.T." Taylor left the band in 1988, their productions faded away, but they continued on the successes of their previous years and spread their disco funk sound around the world. Songs like "Celebration," "Ladies Night," or "Get Down On It" have been integral party jams since the formation of the band.
