Yuko Mabuchi

Yuko Mabuchi is a classically-trained piano virtuoso born and raised in Fukui, Japan. She started taking classical piano lessons at the age of 4 and developed a love for jazz during her teenage years. While studying under jazz pianist Kunihiro Kameda, Mabuchi decided to move to Los Angeles in 2010 to enroll at the Music Performance Academy in Alhambra, California. During her stay in LA, she performed at some of the city’s top venues, quickly establishing herself as a household name in the local jazz scene. Two years after arriving in the US, Mabuchi released Waves (2012), her first studio album featuring original compositions. In 2013, she returned to Japan and formed the Yuko Mabuchi Trio with bassist Del Atkins and drummer Bobby Breton. My Life (2014), another collection of original material by Mabuchi, featured jazz legend Justo Almario on flute and André Delano on saxophone. Following her return to the US in 2016, she released Yuko Mabuchi Trio (2017), a live album recorded at the Brain and Creativity Institute’s Cammilleri Hall. Her fourth project, Yuko Mabuchi Plays Miles Davis (2019), included live improvisations based on the music of the late jazz legend.
