The Stokes
The Stokes were an outfit formed by Allen Toussaint while he was in the army. The group, formed at Fort Hood, recorded a handful of songs for Joe Banashak's Instant Records label, primarily as demos, including "Poor Boy Got To Move," which featured Toussaint on vocals, a true rarity, but Banashak released them during the mid-1960's. The group ceased working when Toussaint was discharged in 1965 and started his own record label.
