Mighty Oaks
Based in Berlin, Germany, multinational indie folk trio Mighty Oaks' tight, three-part harmonies and effusive, largely acoustic-driven folk anthems have drawn comparisons to bands like the Lumineers, Fleet Foxes, and American Authors. After finding viral success in the early 2010s, the group made their major-label debut with 2014's Howl.
Formed in 2010 around the talents of multi-instrumentalists and vocalists Ian Hooper (United States), Claudio Donzelli (Italy), and Craig Saunders (United Kingdom), Mighty Oaks released a home-recorded EP in 2010 which soon garnered hundreds of thousands of downloads, and in 2012 they began work on a proper studio EP. The resulting Just One Day drew rave regional reviews and was followed in early 2014 by the group's first long-player, the Universal-issued Howl. Howl became a Top Ten hit in Germany and Switzerland, and they followed it later the same year with the Brother EP. Mighty Oaks delivered another album-EP pairing in 2017, issuing the full-length Dreamers in February before the Storm EP arrived in November. (Dreamers peaked at number 17 on Germany's album chart while also reaching the Top 40 in Switzerland and Austria.) The trio's debut EP, Driftwood Seat, was then reissued by Can Can Recordings in 2019. Third album All Things Go arrived in February of 2020, with tour plans in place for dates with the Lumineers later in the year.
