Carmen Souza
Born in Portugal in 1981, Cape Verdean singer Carmen Souza made her name with her debut album Ess ê Nha Cabo Verde (2005), which blends African tradition with Creole and modern jazz. Her vocal potential and eclecticism, praised by critics and recognized by a wide audience, are confirmed on the following albums Verdade (2008), Protegid (2010) and Kachupada (2012), which give Carmen Souza an international audience. In 2015, the duo she forms with Theo Pascal welcomes a jazz band for Epistola.
