Progressive Rock - Released December 23, 2008 | Infacted Recordings
Buzzing rhythms, apocalyptic synth orchestrations, sampled film dialogue, and vocals from the caverns of paranoia embroider this duo's Skinny Puppy/early Cabaret Voltaire milieu. As Vincent Price recites "It's so easy for you to forget," X Marks the Pedwalk (the name is lifted from sci-fi writer Fritz Leiber's short story) hammers home those now-familiar electrons with a vengeance. That's right, HUMAN DESOLATION is the latest slice of hard Eurobeat to come down the pike. Although they mine the same shafts as their European and American predecessors (Front 242, FLA, NIN, etc.), X Marks the Pedwalk does it better than most--mainly via spit-shined production and some truly haunting songs ("Desolation," "I See You"). Just goes to show that there's some life left in those crusty old bass sequencers.
