"Wipe Out" is probably the definitive surf rock instrumental. Comparable with such classics of the period such as Dick Dale's "Let's Go Trippin'," the Champs' " Tequila," and Bill Doggett's "Honkey Tonk," the track leads you right into the period and, as an added plus, defies you not to dance. The full-length album Wipe Out is almost as good. The revolutionary proto-metal guitar by Jim Fuller and pounding drums of Ron Wilson engulf every cut, especially the wild "Wiggle Woggle" and the cover of the aforementioned "Tequila." One of the ultimate surf party platters, this album -- despite its trashy production -- has stood the test of time.
