A slapstick takeoff on the classic dinosaur horror music formula, We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story remains James Horner's most effective and charming entry into the family film genre. With a dizzying and energetic score that complements the London Symphony Orchestra with an army of kazoos, penny whistles and gag-shop special effects, it boasts a genuine playfulness unique in the composer's catalog. Satirizing and appropriating elements of scores spanning from The Godfather to Gremlins, We're Back! deflates the myriad conventions of the horror idiom with malicious glee. For good measure, Little Richard even shows up to wail Horner's closing theme "Roll Back the Clock (To the Dawn of Time)."
