Mark Knopfler wrote and performed the soundtrack to Barry Levinson's political satire Wag the Dog, and it is one of his best scores, alternately graceful and rootsy. Seven of the eight tracks are instrumental, with the last being reserved for the agreeably humorous single "Wag the Dog."

Playlists
On 14 April 2018, Dire Straits were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Even Mark Knopfler seemed touched by this honour, hoping to be handed the award by the likes of Bob Dylan or Eric Clapton. But in the end, Dire Straits moved into the pantheon of rockers without their star, which made for one of the saddest ceremonies in history. The absence was almost symbolic of the relationship between the lead singer and his group.
Hailed by critics of classical music as well as amateurs of the electronic genre, Nils Frahm’s talent has brought harmony between the two worlds for the last ten years. Whether he plays on a church organ or a synthesiser fitted with effect pedals, the German pianist is always looking forward, and that’s what makes him so appealing.
More than five years after his death, there is still no getting away from the vital wellspring of music that is the works of J.J. Cale. With his unique alloy of blues, folk, country and jazz, the man worshipped by Clapton, who lived for a while in a trailer, is still one of rock's most influential hermits.
