The first of two LPs, this album features a potentially great lineup: trumpeters Freddie Hubbard and Lee Morgan (they rarely ever recorded together), James Spaulding on alto and flute, pianist Harold Mabern, bassist Larry Ridley, drummer Pete La Roca, and Big Black on congas. However, Hubbard easily blows Morgan away and these versions of "Pensativa" and "Walkin'" are way too long; also, the recording quality is not too impressive.
