In 2014, Sawyer Fredericks was a teenager from Fultonville, New York who spent most of this time on the family farm and wrote and sang songs as a hobby. Just a year later, Fredericks had won the hearts of music fans all across America as a contestant on the eighth season of NBC-TV's music competition show The Voice. The 16-year-old who previously had rarely played a venue larger than the local farmers' market was declared the show's top prize-winner after beguiling viewers with his boyish personality and sweet but powerful vocal style. The Voice: The Complete Season 8 Collection collects Fredericks' 14 appearances on the show, including "Please," a previously unrecorded song written by Ray Montagne (one of Sawyer's favorite artists) that he gave to the young vocalist for the final rounds of the competition. Other selections include "Imagine," "Iris," "Simple Man," "Summer Breeze," and "Have You Ever Seen the Rain."
