Portuguese singer Bévinda has gained notable popularity in France and Canada, popularity that is growing outside the borders of these countries as well as her native Portugal. Her voice is soft, smooth, charming, and intimate. One could say she is a Portuguese folk type of singer, for whom the poetry of her songs and music dominates over everything else. She is simply accompanied by an acoustic guitar and/or 12-string guitar, cello, accordion, flute, some percussion here and there, vocals on one song, a small chamber orchestra on another. The poetry of her songs is explicitly felt in the musical arrangements. The simplicity and sincerity in her music and voice make Terre E Ar a most intimate recording.
