Four years after releasing the impressive pop design of Ampday, Motor City's Kiln perfect their electronic stillness for Sunbox. The five-song EP marks their first for Ghostly and it's a perfect fit, for the minimalist tinkering found on Sunbox is a suitable reflection of Ghostly's previously released material. With that aside, Kiln expounds on the ambience of Ampday while zeroing in on the amber and auburn shades of their self-titled EP. The smooth current that is "Royal Peppermint Forest" languishes in varying tempos and subtle breakbeats, while "Ghost" and the groovy chill of "Hong" shimmy with stylish sample loops and sparkling synth beats. Both reclusive and perfectionistic, Kiln once again prove their beautiful eccentricity with the Sunbox EP. They've maintained an abstract construct without compromising for the sake of pop grandeur. Sunbox is pure style and pure class.
