Summer's Mine is Detroit rapper Babyface Ray's third studio album in two years, following 2022's FACE and MOB. Production-wise, the release has a somewhat sunnier tone than his other work, at times sounding inspired by '80s electro and even freestyle on songs like the brief highlight "All Star Team." Much like fellow Detroiter Veeze, who guests on "Bosses Linking with Bosses," Ray's flow can sound aloof and unperturbed, but closer listening reveals how focused, confident, and clever he is. The album gets a bit more emotional towards the end, with the melodic hooks of the R&B-influenced "Dancing with the Devil, Pt. 2" and "Jackboys," and the confessional tour de force "My Thoughts 4." Griselda's Westside Gunn pops up during the haunting "Fly Gods," slightly toning down his usual energy level to something more in line with Ray's. Summer's Mine reached number 92 on the Billboard 200.
