Mont Klamott, originally released in 1983, was a landmark album for both Silly and German Democratic Republic rock music. It was the first time the band unleashed their full creative potential and set new quality standards for East German rock. Songs like the title track, a story about a hill piled up from World War II rubble, "Raus Aus Der Spur," or "Unterm Asphalt" were beautifully crafted works. "Mont Klamott" even can claim to be the GDR rock song of the '80s (similar to what City, another well-known GDR band, achieved with "Am Fenster" in 1977). "Heiße Würstchen" and "Puppe Otto" played around with new wave sounds (the German new wave was known there as "neue Deutsche welle"). Still, this album was not perfect (there are also weak songs, such as "Die Gräfin" or the artificial "Ein Lied Für Die Menschen"), but compared with their 1981 debut, it was a big step forward. The 1993 remastered CD version also contains the song "Dicke Luft," which was censored out for the 1983 original release of the album.
