This quick, streaming-only EP from Swedish pop-metal group Ghost was released in September 2022 in between the Imperatour and Re-Imperatour legs of the tour that supported album number five, Impera. [Message from the Clergy] featured a pair of tracks from that album, as well as live favorites "Square Hammer," "Dance Macabre," and "Year Zero." Most notable is the inclusion of "Mary on a Cross" (and its sludgy "slowed + reverb" version), which was a monstrous hit on social media, becoming the band's most streamed song by 2023. While inessential for fans with access to the original albums from which these hits were spawned, [Message from the Clergy] is a solid little mix that could serve as a handy primer for any new members of the Ghost faithful.
