Jorge Bolet, the Epitome of Franz Liszt

Franz Liszt’s music re-emerged in the early 1980’s and for once it was played in a way that was both poetic and lyrical, rather than simply getting the notes out. Jorge Bolet recorded a ground-breaking anthology of the Hungarian composer for DECCA, as well as other recordings for the Spanish label ENSAYO, for RCA in the 1970’s, for EVEREST in 1960, and studio and radio recordings in the 1950’s.

This is an interview with an exceptional musician, who discusses his unique approach to working on classical music in the studio.

We take a look back at the career of one of the most versatile and open-minded classical musicians of our time, and an essential figure of baroque violin.
