Conceptually linked to My Special Guests, Ladies Choice is a collection of duets with country music's biggest female stars of the time including, Janie Fricke, Barbara Mandrell, Lacy J. Dalton, Deborah Allen, and Emmylou Harris. Though the liner notes claim that Jones personally selected his partners for these recordings, more than likely this was a marketing decision to pair the old-school singer with the up-and-coming country ladies of the '80s. The album did have two moderate hits ("Hallelujah, I Love You So" and "Size Seven Round (Made of Gold)") but rarely does this album strike anything above average.
