Like Green Day before them, Phoenix's Anarbor play a muscular, slickly produced style of pop-punk which is unafraid to branch off from a Ramones three-chord template into more varied power-pop territory. This EP contains at least four radio-ready, single-worthy tracks, the best being opener "Let the Games Begin," with its ebullient harmonies and sticks-in-your-head chorus. The band's subject matter on songs like "Halfway Sober" and "Passion for Publication" (both about struggles with personal responsibility) are refreshingly mature relative to the pop-punk norm.
